Areas of Expertise
While I am comfortable and experienced in working with a diverse range of client needs, here are a few of the most common topics I see in the therapy space.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression are some of the most common reasons people reach out to me. I love to help clients reframe the way they think about and respond to the signals they receive from their body, as well as improve unhelpful thought patterns.
Workplace Stress
We spend a significant amount of time working, and it would be difficult to ignore the fact that work stressors impact personal life - we can't simply 'leave it at the door'. I support clients in burnout, compassion fatigue, trauma/secondary trauma, boundaries, identifying 'balance', and conflict resolution. Some clients and employers look for Registered Psychologists to support return to work plans, and I have extensive experience in this field. I particularly enjoy working with teachers, entrepreneurs, and other high-achieving professionals such as lawyers, engineers, artists, aestheticians, social workers, dentists, and business professionals. I also have experience working with first responders, nurses, and doctors.
Trauma
I work from a trauma-informed lens to support my clients. I support the client by using a variety of therapeutic modalities to first identify and potentially diagnose trauma, as well as explore how the trauma fits into your own personal narrative, and how to move forward in your life.
General life challenges
There are so many reasons to seek the support of therapy. I also support clients with the following needs: stress, chronic illness, coping skill development, ADHD, OCD, grief and loss, depression, and women's mental health (peri/postnatal).
Additionally, sometimes therapy can be proactive! If you find you are looking to build your strengths and maintain mental health and well-being, we can do that too!
When it comes down to it, I believe you are the expert in your life. You will bring your lived experiences, strengths, and challenges, and I will meet you exactly where you are at. I will bring my knowledge and training to the space and create an atmosphere where you feel empowered to make the shifts in your life that you are looking for.
I might ask you to think about things differently, try new things, or stretch yourself a little beyond your comfort zone (that is where the magic often is found). My hope is that every client leaves my office feeling empowered and equipped with the tools to live a values-based life. Together, we will set goals that will guide the therapeutic experience and align with what you know to be right for you.
Beyond the therapy space, I am a mother of 2 lovely tiny humans, and 2 cats (whom I also consider my children). I love to be involved in my community and attend local events. I enjoy being creative, drinking coffee, and spending time with family and friends.
